  1. FESTIVALS & EVENTS 
    There are a wide variety of festivals and events to enjoy throughout the year! The Holstein Rodeo, Busker Festival in Walkerton, numerous maple syrup festivals, Savour the Flavours in Minto, Apple Blossom Festival & Craft Show at Filsinger’s Organic, Sights & Sounds Festival in Hanover, Words Aloud Festival in Durham & Outdoor Movie Nights in Walter’s Falls just are just a few of the festivals & events taking place.   2. WALKING & HIKING
    There are 50+ hiking trails in Grey, Bruce & Wellington-North. Spend a few hours or an entire day exploring one of the many wonderful trails such the Hanover Trail System, Luther Marsh Conservation Area, Saugeen Valley Conservation trails, Harriston Greenway Trail, Palmerston White’s Junction Trail, Clifford Trail, Saugeen Trail in Mount Forest & Arthur Community Walking Trail, just to name a few.  For detailed trail info, go to www.brucegreytrails.com, www.visitgrey.ca/play/outdoor-sights/trails or local municipality links.   3. CANOING, KAYAKING & TUBING
    Canoe, kayak & tube along the beautiful Saugeen River system from Hanover to Southampton or enjoy the scenery and wildlife while paddling on our many inland lakes.  Canoe, kayak & tube rentals are available throughout the area.   4. HORSE & BUGGY RIDES
    Ride an old fashioned horse & buggy on the farms and back roads of Southgate near the historic village of Holstein.  Appointments must be booked in advance by calling Carolyn Martin at 519-334-3177 or Clayton Bearinger at 519-323-3379.

  5. WATERFALL TOUR
    You can  play in the falls at McGowan Falls in Durham, enjoy a picnic and the children’s playground as well as the beach area & walking trails. Then….put on your walking shoes or hiking boots & explore the beauty of Walters Falls, Inglis Falls or one of the other majestic waterfalls on the self-guided Waterfall Tour.   6. 15th ANNUAL MOUNT FOREST FIREWORKS FESTIVAL
    This festival has been recognized as one ofOntario's Top 100 Festivals and Events eight years in a row: 2008 - 2015!  Everything from amusement rides, incredible food, a car show, entertainment & of course, fireworks are to be enjoyed at the 15th annual festival July 17-19, 2015.   7. CYCLING
    Ride the bike trails at Allan Park, the Butter Tart trails at Mount Forest, the Nine Mills trail from Paisley to Williamsford, the River Valley loop from Walkerton to Hanover, Neustadt, Mildmay & Formosa amongst others. Explore many more trail systems or discover your own. 

  8. CAMPING
    Camping is a wonderful  way to get back to nature!  There are numerous campgrounds in Saugeen Country including private campgrounds, conservation areas & a provincial park. Some of the campgrounds, such as Saugeen Riverbank Campground, Cedar Rail Family Campground, Saugeen Springs RV Park & Saugeen Cedars Campground have trailer, bunkie, cottage & cabin rentals available.
     
  9. GOLF

  10. FARMERS’ MARKETS

  11. FISHING

  12. BUTTERTART TRAIL
    On this self-guided, 100 km road tour throughout Wellington North, you'll come across at least a dozen varieties of decadently-sinful butter tarts. It's also about farm fresh, farm gate produce, refined rustic fare, the country market you find just around the corner and the greenhouse and garden centres that prevail.   13. ARTISTS STUDIO TOURS

    Stroll the streets of our heritage towns and explore unique gift and antique shops.

  16. WINDSONG CARRIAGE & RANCH - TRAIL RIDING
    Spend 1, 2, 4 hours or more horseback riding on the beautiful trails around Bognor & Chatsworth areas that are a mix of hardwood & softwood bush, hills, streams, fields and quiet roads.  There are hundreds of acres to explore!  Located at 597520 Grey Rd. #29, Bognor, Windsong Carriage & Ranch offers horses of various experience levels and if you prefer, carriages, buggies or a hay wagon are available depending on how many people you have.   17. LIVE THEATRE & MUSIC

  18. DINING & EATERIES  
    An organic lunch; great fish & chips; cappuccino and dessert or a full gourmet meal...it can all be found in Saugeen Country.  The Coach House at the Hanover Racetrack, Country Corner Eatery, Durham & Gloria’s Restaurant in Durham are just 3 of the fabulous places to dine!

  20. LIGHTHOUSE TOUR
    Discover the historic the Kincardine and Chantry Island lighthouses as well as lighthouses in Southampton, Tobermory & other areas along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.  The Bruce Coast Lighthouse Tour features 15 distinctive lighthouse and marine heritage sites.   24. BIRD WATCHING
    Spend part of a day exploring the wonderful world of “birding.”  A great experience for beginners or experienced birders alike.  With all the wonderful natural surroundings in Saugeen Country, the possibilities are endless. 

  25. ATVing
    The Dufferin Grey ATV Club (www.dgatv.ca), The West GreyATV Club (www.westgreyatvclub.ca) & Huron Shores ATV Club (www.huronshoresatvclub.org) are all located in Saugeen Country & offer great trails for riding. Visit their websites & Facebook pages for more information. A great day of fun awaits you exploring the area on your ATV. Every municipality has different by-laws regarding ATV’s. Check with the clerk’s office in each municipality to ensure a bylaw has been passed permitting ATV use.
